Are you a die-hard fan of Shopaholic Series? Swear that Becky Bloomwood is like a long-lost sister that you wish to have?

Becky Bloomwood and Hanz would never become best friends because….

1. Becky owns more than 10 Credit Cards with over-limit credits while Hanz only own one credit card.

2. Becky has overdraft facility and write too much letters to Bank for overdraft extension and limits while Hanz don’t even have overdraft facilities

3. Becky developed addiction on unspecific items to shop wherelse Hanz only addicted on cloth diapers splurge currently.

4. Becky made silly excuses to buy whatever and persuaded sub-conscious mind to shop while Hanz would set mind and repeatedly self-questioning, “Why do I need this?

5. Becky shop for designer brands for entire clothing and attire even in miscellanous items while Hanz only do brand-conscious shopping for certain items like shoes, electrical appliance, face care and body care because of the quality and long-term satisfaction depending on situation, needs and budgets.

6. Becky lies to herself especially, her husband (ex-boss/fiance), her best friend and procrastinate in facing reality of her bad debts while Hanz face debt with guilty mind and seeks solutions by all ways and means.

7. Becky shops all the time regardless day, night while Hanz will be on shopping spree once in a blue moon after shop-fasting couple of months before that.

8. Becky haunts designer boutiques and online shops everywhere and don’t really have specific favourite shop but Hanz haunts Bazaar, Flea Market and Bargain Site and found preloved items is okay, plus only do Online Shop for specific items like books, makeup, bags, clothes and baby stuff and frequent shopper to those she found satisfying and has few favourite stores.

9. Becky would take word-by-word a recommendation by total stranger at somewhere, nowhere for a big decision while Hanz would never believe a single word from someone she does’nt know without going home first, make a self-inspection before making the big decision after discussed it with her other-half.

10. Becky is good on finding ways on how to dig a hole to cover another hole of debts while Hanz is good on finding funds on rotation for spending did on impulse sometimes.

11. Becky is an impulse-buyer while Hanz is a conscious buyer.

12. Becky never tries her hands on entering contest but Hanz love contest. Who doesn’t love free gifts and save more?

13. Becky is slow to make decision, can’t even decide wisely and go round and round in circle and problem solved usually by chance and for the sake of pleasing everyone she think needs to be please but Hanz is firm on making decision, telling the truth and problem solved by weighing pros and cons not by chance.

14. Becky loves to visualize things she needs to buy in exaggerating manner to the extend being impossible while Hanz visualize the thing she think she needs to buy by wondering whether it can be match with the available attire she has back home or places she can be.

15. Becky is over-confident for wealth or opportunity that is yet within her grasp and never extra-conscious should fate turned the other way while Hanz would only have the confidence for any money-related must be black-and-white writing, testimonials gained before spending unnecessarily.

Sigh..actually there is more than 15 reasons I can list out here but I don’t want to bore you with this Shopaholic thingy. I was curios when this Shopaholic wave hit across Continents and I do admit I am way too late to join in the crowds. Anyway, after gotten 3 of the Shopaholic Series, finished reading Shopaholic Abroad, Shopaholic Ties the knot, watched Confession of A Shopaholic movie and now STRUGGLING to finish Shopaholic and Baby, I don’t want to torture my mind anymore.

Any taker for these 3 books? Gonna get rid of them.

Plastic-wrapped nicely because I always respect book, got it only last March, don’t want to include them in my modest bookshelves. If you are Becky Bloomwood’s fan, then grab those. Of course, lower than bookstore price. Just hop over to my blogshop ya. :>

Hanz’s Note : At least Twillight Series is better though I dragged myself to finish the Finale and somehow it kills my enthusiasm a bit on it.

How to manage salary in simple way like Hanz

Another tip from me…he,he…fit for FTWM & maybe WAHM too..

I’ve been managing my money since 16 years old & nobody taught me how..I just figured it out by myself. When I said manage, meaning I jot down Cash In, Cash Out & got special book for it! :> I kept all expenses receipt, then throw it after write down what I spent & write down money earned in any forms. I compared prices & won’t simply buy necessities without re-thinking many times. And, I sell back my books just in case I got bored with it so….I could spend more on books!

It used to be, when obtained pocket money from my dad, I hardly spent it at school as I brought my own mostly it goes to bus fare if I have extra classes or curriculum & won’t take the school bus..and then the rest goes to story books, magazines & cassettes. Some goes to savings..

Once working, tempted by credit cards offers everywhere, at one point of time I had 4 cards & all reaching limits. Luckily, my eldest brother offered to bail me out & soon after that got myself hitched with dear hubby.

We had our time of down for sometimes..we was poor you know, I’m not kidding ya..and we appreciate the value of money more than ever…I learnt my lesson well & for today, I only have one credit card & I’m not keen to add more. Nevertheless, making ridiculous loans to settle debts. Alhamdulillah, not wealthy but at least, we’re more than okay than surviving like those unfortunates ones who could hardly can get one mouth of feed for days…I’m grateful that at least me, hubby & my boys are not in that state. It’s a constant reminder to us to appreciate life more, you see. That’s why I’ve keep on being frugal + delicious = frugalicious at all times. Eventhough you have so much money & can afford that much, try to be more on frugal side as you will never your fate in the future.

Well, back to the main point. How do you manage your money?

My way is very simple. For full time working mother like me, I earned my salary with fixed amount monthly.

And, all I have to do is to distributed my earnings to three parts like this :-

Fixed is strictly for cash expenses that the amount would maintain the same monthly. Like childcare, hire purchase & other installment that tend to be my asset.Duration varies.

Cash is for whatever the remainings I have in hand that I can spend for whatever things I want to spend. It must based on priorities. An example, the need to replace my contact lenses stocks of 6 months plus is more important than spending new pair of pants.

Credit refers to my credit card expenses.Usually I will spend by the same amount that I can afford to pay for the following months. And, I try harder not to use my credit card most of the times.

And, on top of that, I also allocate & distribute my daily expenses for 20 days with fix amount like picture below.

Each packet contains fix money that I must spend per day for food at work or other miscellanious for week days. Weekends excluded because dear hubby will spend for his beloved ones. :>
Meaning, I will try not to spend more than the money allocated everyday & the lesser the better. The balance of expenses money I will keep in there, not thinking about it till end of the month and surprise, surprise! Let’s see how much balance of money I have! This balance it can be used for emergency, savings or splurge for my boys or even for myself definitely!

To some, they tend to reward and pay themselves by saving first and the amount is fixed, right?

Well, confession from me, I don’t fix the amount of my savings yet. Maybe next year? Well, my point is I don’t want to stress out myself of saving too much and don’t enjoy life. To me, as long as I’m not overspending, doing frugalicious & my boys have their saving & insurance plan tuck away, our life is good. And in case I need to get something that I desire with, usually I save some money till it is enough for the purchases. And, usually I tend to find ways of making extra money…he,he…

Life is too short. Make it simple.Don’t stress yourself with financial burden.

How to be FRUGALicious & maintain FRUGALicious like Hanz

The first time I heard the word ‘Frugalicious’ was from littlemama. Never know back then you can be frugal & delicious at the same time! Ha! Ha! Then, I realized, hey all these time, I am being frugal & maintaining delicious so it became Frugalicious. The word Frugalicious now becomes one of my favourite word.

Love to share with my Chit-chatters how I do my Frugalicious. Do take note though, that it probably applies to people with medium-income like me-lah (makan gaji) & if you can afford more, no need to follow my tips-lah. I might appear stingy & cheapskate to you but to me, I just being Frugalicious! To those who think what I’m about to share is useful, let me know, ya? Love to hear from you too!

DISCLAIMER : Not a paid advertisement or product reviews from any parties. Just my personal usage & sharing.

1. Items and necessities that you frequently used and must need in your life, switch from disposable to reusable. Most common example, tissues and baby wipes can be switch to cloth wipes, sanitary cloth pad to replace disposable pad and cloth diaper is cheaper compared to disposable diaper in the long run!

2. Obtain membership from those shops and stores that you frequent to so that you can collect points and redeem for discount voucher to be use on your next purchase or get discounted items by points deduction.

We always purchase VCDs & DVDs as one form of entertainment & homeschooling tools & Video Ezy help us save. I have redeemed many times for discount voucher & products too fromthe other outlets.

3. Get membership card like Bonuslink where you can collect points at many participating outlets and not only you will be able to redeem voucher and items but enjoy other benefits too.

So far, I bought lots of cheaper stuff using Parkson voucher. I remember there’s one time I only paid RM17 for Lego set for my boys after deduction through RM 50 Parkson voucher & 20% discount offered for RM100 plus off it’s original price. I bought lots of Fisher-Price toys too as I know Fisher Price toys is durable. Also many branded items like clothes and shoes by these way.

Now, after a year plus, having Tesco card, I am enjoying the cash rebate we have accumulated by points collected in using Reusable Bag Campaign. Plus, from time to time, products on offer would be informed to you.

4. Buy in bulk for items that you can’t live without like household cleaning items and toiletries.
You will save some money & spare it for others for your following month grocery trips. Buy refill instead as it is cheaper and you cut down wastage too.

As for us, we always buy refill for shower foam.

5. Use shopping voucher that you obtained from common stores like Parkson and Jaya Jusco to buy branded items.

6. Always do window shopping or online check-out peep-in on your favourite store as they might give offer that you will never know it could be good to you. Subscribe for newsletter for latest updates.

As for me I simply love book-shopping at Acmamall and I am one of their subscribers. They do not only make books that hard to get available but they always have sale and discount ongoing from time to time and rebates that you can obtain as they offer cashdollar deduction.

7. Go for second-best rate products but quality check hardly noticeable. You might fancy Coach handbags, Gucci sunglasses and Hush & Puppy shoes but nowadays many brick & mortar shop & even blogshops can offer lesser price for those branded items.

8. “All is RM 5” shop like Daiso & 100 Yen is a must-visit. You will never know what frugalicious items you might get from there. A visit to Flea Market, Garage Sale and Car Boot sale is a must too!

9.For an event, appointment, gathering or outing, try to wear at least one branded items that is definite an eye-catcher especially watch, shoes and handbag and accessories as well. Cleverly mix & match can camouflage the entire look and people usually will miss knowing you have put on cheap & expensive items together. Afterall, you are not Paris Hilton whom can afford to wear branded items from head to toe, right?

10. Never get tired of participating and entering as many contest as you like. Press your luck, crack your brain and hope for the best. You might win fantastic prizes!

Those are some of my winning prizes for these years!

Happy Frugalicious!
